Beauty Secrets

Four Sneaky Tricks

1-

Laugh off lip lines: when you apply lipstick so it has a crisp border, it draws attention to fine lines around your mouth. Try lightly dabbing your finger around your lip line after swiping on your shade: It’ll make the edges soft – and your smile juicier. One of the beauty secrets is to maintain and restore this vermilion border line.

2-
Airbrush skin with primer : it makes you look like you’re always standing in flattering light. Primer blurs the appearance of uneven skin and fine lines, so your face seems smoother. Beauty secret is to rub on a pea-size drop after moisturizing – even if you don’t wear foundation over it.

3-
Fight gravity with eyeliner: after age 40, eyelids can start to droop at the outer corners. The fix this try this beauty secret: Line your top lash line with a creamy black pencil, then use a pointed Q-tip to smudge the line slightly up and out past the outer corner to create a subtle lift.

4-
Try a pink pucker: everyone looks younger with cherubic rosy lips. If you’re fair, a slick beauty secret is to try a mauve-y rose shade; for deeper skin tones, go with a bolder colour like berry red.

Baby boomers and generation x under pressure…

.

Do you look older than your friends?

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), Baby Boomers between the ages of 51 and 64 accounted for 28% of the total cosmetic plastic surgeries and procedures in 2020. Generation X’ers, who range in age from 31 to 45, were among the more than 4 million individuals in the age group who underwent the majority (43%) of beauty secret procedures last year, despite the fact that there are far fewer of them out there.

Baby Boomers

Many in the so-called Generation X – who were born between 1965 and 1979 – are now in their 50’s. According to the Los Angeles Times, many in this age group aspire to look like celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Victoria Beckham and Catherine Zeta-Jones – all of whom are also members of Generation X.

Image Conscious

As a whole, Generation X’ers are more willing to spend money on their appearance. The Los Angeles Times reports that one study found that they rely on preventive anti-aging beauty secrets regimen to a greater extent than boomers do. In addition, the newspaper reports that “a report from the Symphony IRI National Consumer Panel says that Gen X spent $5.3 billion on beauty products in the 12-month period that ended June 26, which represented 28 % of all beauty spending.”
Another survey conducted by Allure magazine found that 93% of women and 84% of men say the pressure to look young today is greater than it’s ever been.

This pressure – whether it’s real or perceived – along with the focus many Generation X’ers have on health and beauty may mean an increase in both surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the coming years.

As this generation ages, they may be more apt to seek out treatments, procedures and surgeries that help them appear younger, such as toxin injections, eyelid surgeries, liposuction and chemical peels.

After all, a recent ASAPS survey revealed that 53% of women and 49% of men say they approve of cosmetic surgery. The poll also found that 67% of Americans said they would not be embarrassed if their friends or family knew they had cosmetic surgery.

Topic highlight of the week…

This week we look at jowling

Do you hate your jowls and sagging neck! None of us likes to see sagging jowls along our jaw line. A smooth clean jaw line and neck creates a fit youthful look to the face. As we age, our facial skin loses elasticity and we begin to see a fold of skin along the jawline below the mouth, commonly called the jowl. The line running from the corner of our mouth to the jaw and jowl is called the marionette line, because the line looks like the line beside a puppets mouth.

Causes

• Skin Laxity-As our skin ages it loses elasticity and the skin along the jaw line begins to sag.

• Loss of Facial Volume-As we age or facial fat atrophies, the face is less full, and the skin envelope becomes lax and sags.

• Repeated Mouth Movements-Smiling and facial expressions pull at the corner of the mouth and create a fold or line over which sagging facial skin can fall. Above the mouth this fold is called the nasal labial fold. Below the mouth the line is called the marionette line-also called the pre-jowl sulcus.

Treatment Options

Traditionally jowls have been removed by performing a face lift. More recently beauty secrets new non-surgical methods have also been developed.

Facelift

The mini facelift is still the “gold standard’ for jowl removal. A properly done face lift can create a beautiful youthful jaw line.

J-Plasty Lift

Minimally invasive no excisional approach to achieve open face lift surgery like results that are long lasting addressing the jowls and neck areas. The J-Plasty is no longer a beauty secret as its an an increasing popular procedure using Renuvion and VASER technologies to shrink-wrap loose skin.

Dermal Fillers

Liquid Face Lift-Soft tissue fillers such as Restylane™, Juvederm™, Radiesse™, and Perlane™ are biodegradable semi –solid medical compounds that can be injected underneath facial lines to plump the skin. Using the power of volume restoration as a popular beauty secret, the facial contouring alleviates and face gaunt is lifted and youthful complexion restored.

3D Lift

More recently, a technique called the Softlift is used to inject these soft tissue filers into areas of the face which have lost fat. By increasing the volume in these areas the sagging skin can be lifted.

VASER Lipo

The well established VASER liposuction technology uses focused ultrasound energy to remove excess fat and tighten neck skin and skin along the jaw line. The technique is done under local anaesthesia. However, early jowls and double chin can be successfully removed with this technique.

This Month's Special Offer

Testimonials

After receiving Laser Hair Removal on my face, I was anxious to have the brown spots removed. The hair at least I could shave but the spots were there to stay. I have had these spots for the past 10 years and have tried many ways of dealing with them but have never had any good results. After the first procedure, the spots faded. My face looked ragged and old before. The spots are disappearing and I will allow my picture to be taken (especially at my son’s wedding recently). I definitely look younger and fresher. The emotional well being from this, far surpasses the physical. I understand the sun’s rays are strong and I will need sun screen on for the rest of my life but I should have been doing this before and would not have had this problem. As i get older and wiser, I am thankful to have this opportunity for a second chance to take care of my skin.

Thank you so much Maggie for this opportunity, you have changed my life!
