An eyebrow lift, also known as a forehead lift, is a cosmetic procedure that aims to lift and shape the eyebrows. It is typically performed to improve the appearance of sagging or drooping eyebrows, which can give the face a tired or aged appearance. The eyebrow lift procedure can be performed using a variety of techniques, including injecting neuromodulators or filling agents like hyaluronic acid into the muscles of the forehead and around the eyes, or surgically repositioning the muscles and skin of the forehead.

Why eyebrow lift is popular

Eyebrow lifts are popular for a few reasons. First, they can help to rejuvenate the appearance of the face by lifting and shaping the eyebrows to a more youthful position. Second, they can be used to address specific concerns such as drooping eyebrows, wrinkles or creases on the forehead, or deep furrows between the eyebrows. Finally, brow lifts are often performed in combination with other cosmetic procedures, such as facelifts or eyelid surgery, to create a more comprehensive rejuvenation of the face.

There are several muscles in the forehead and around the eyes that can be injected in order to lift and shape the eyebrows. These muscles include:

  1. Frontalis muscle: This is a long, thin muscle that runs horizontally across the forehead and is responsible for lifting the eyebrows. Injecting the frontalis muscle with a wrinkle injection  can help to increase its resting tone, which can lift the eyebrows slightly.
  2. Orbicularis oculi muscle: This is a circular muscle that surrounds the eye and is responsible for closing the eye and causing wrinkles around the eye when we squint or frown. Injecting the orbicularis oculi muscle with a neuromodulator can help to relax its downward pull on the eyebrows, which can create a small lift.
  3. Corrugator muscles: These are small, triangular muscles located in the centre of the forehead that are responsible for causing wrinkles and furrows between the eyebrows when we frown. Injecting the corrugator muscles with a neuromodulator can help to soften these wrinkles and create a more relaxed, smooth appearance.

Avoid Unnatural eyebrow appearance

There are several key considerations to keep in mind when performing a brow lift in order to avoid an unnatural appearance. These include:

  1. Avoid over-treatment: It is important to be strategic and selective in the muscles that are injected, and to use the appropriate amount of product. Over-treating certain muscles can cause an unnatural, frozen appearance, so it is important to be conservative and to avoid injecting too much product.
  2. Pay attention to the position of the arch: The ideal position of the arch is often dictated by the shape of the face and the desired result. Injecting the wrong muscles or placing injections too high or too low can cause the arch to be too high or too low, which can result in an unnatural appearance.
  3. Consider the direction of pull: The direction of pull of the injected muscles should be carefully considered in order to create a natural-looking lift. Injecting the wrong muscles or placing injections in the wrong location can cause the eyebrows to lift or shape in an unnatural way.
  4. Consider the overall balance of the face: A brow lift should be harmonious with the rest of the face, so it is important to consider the overall balance of the face when injecting the muscles. For example, if the eyebrows are lifted too high, it can throw off the balance of the face and result in an unnatural appearance.
  5. Use follow-up treatments to make adjustments: Follow-up treatments can be helpful for making any necessary adjustments and fine-tuning the result. This can be particularly important for individuals who are having a brow lift for the first time, as it allows the healthcare provider to adjust the treatment plan based on the patient’s response.
