Sculptra is becoming increasingly popular as a non-surgical option for buttocks enhancement. Results can last between two and three years, although some have reported that Sculptra can continue to enhance collagen production for as long as five years, or even longer.

Is Sculptra a filler?

Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which provide immediate results by immediate lifting the skin, Sculptra effect is gradual and works by stimulating collagen production in the injected area over the course of several months. Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid injectable filler that has typically been used in the face to smooth out deep creases and wrinkles.

An immediate increase in size can be noticed after the Sculptra injections have been performed, but that’s only because they also contain a biological saline-based solution. The skin returns to its normal state a few days later. It’s only then that the medicine starts to work, as the Sculptra microspheres are absorbed into the treated area and the body is coaxed into reproducing lost collagen.

Suitability for Sculptra butt lift?

Although I have been using Sculptra for facial augmentation since 2003, Sculptra buttocks augmentation are more and more popular part of my treatment repertoire over the last three years.

Enhanced buttocks are viewed as a modern beauty ideal. A decade ago, people wanted to be thin, with the smallest bum projection. Nowadays curvaceous buttocks are viewed as a more appealing body shape.

Sculptra butt lift can enhance the appearance of patients looking for a modest increase in buttock volume and a defined profile. For those who want to greater changes, the Brazilian Butt Lift is still the ideal procedure. During the BBL excess fat is removed from areas like the stomach or thighs by VASER liposuction and lipofilled into the buttocks. However, petite athletic people may not have enough fat to harvest and inject in the first place. That’s why they are considered ideal candidate for the Sculptra butt enhancement.

Flat Bum

Women can develop certain changes to their bodies, some are age-related, and others are mechanical or hormonal. The perky contour of the buttocks may loses its firmness and becomes flat. Changes that cause this flattening of the buttocks include weigh loss, pregnancy and hormonal changes which cause loosening of the ligaments that support and hold up the buttocks in younger people. This leads to a flat bum which loses its curvy shape. The problem can be remedied by injecting Sculptra into the fatty layer over the gluteal muscles.

What is the procedure like?

The procedure begins with me getting a clear understanding of your expectations and what type of change you wants. I’ll assess wither your needs can be met with Sculptra injections or you’re better off getting a BBL, I’ll also assess the approximate total amount needed in your case. Sculptra is more of a planned sculpting skill. Some patients want round butt, another person may want a C-shaped bum while others desire a more side contoured buttocks, or a combination of both.

After marking the areas that need enhancement, through an
interactive process to targeting safe anatomical vectors of lift and placed avoiding
important nerves and vessels. The patient then lies face down on the treatment
couch and the injections are administered pain free using a long cannula under
strict sterile environment.

Is there any downtime?

After the injections there may be some aching sensation for
a couple days, like a hard workout. To encourage the Sculptra to spread evenly,
I recommend that patients massage their bottoms for five minutes, five times a
day for five days. Patients can return to their regular activities right away.

How long does a Sculptra butt lift last?

In my practice I agree with experts around the world that results last between two and three years, although some have reported that Sculptra can continue to enhance collagen production for as long as five years, or even longer. However, I recommend that touch-up session is required after two years to maintain the effects of your treatment.

Sculptra Butt Lift

So, you heard about the hottest topic in cosmetic surgery – the non-invasive Sculptra buttock augmentation, also known as the Sculptra Butt Lift.

If you are not happy with your behind and feel you want to enhance your silhouette and curvature, then you may not be alone. In fact, you are one of the many people seeking this increasingly popular procedure. A recent study by the American Association of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) found buttock augmentation to be by far the fastest growing cosmetic procedure.

There are many ways to deal with unwanted fat. Latest technologies have come a long way in providing minimally invasive means of dealing with unwanted fat, however they to have their limitation. For many individuals liposuction remains the good trusted and definitive choice. When it comes to removal of undesired body fat; VASER liposuction has been the perfect solution at our Castleknock Cosmetic Clinic Dublin since 2008. VASER liposuction is the primary trusted procedure in delivering safe and effective fat removal as well as skin retraction at the same time.

Aside from planning of how you can achieve best results, it’s also wise to think what you can expect in the form of post-operative recovery.

What to expect after liposuction?

Liposuction wounds are tiny and are deliberately left open to drain out. Post liposuction wounds drain from 24-72 hours after your procedure.  Most liposuction patients have to deal with dressing their wounds. Although you can do it by yourself, it’s only wise to have someone else help you with the task. Change the absorption pad dressing regularly until seepage stops. It’s advisable to remove and change one dressing at a time.

Unlike other wounds, incision points from liposuction may be a bit tender. It’s advisable to wash around the wounds once or twice a day with a very mild soap. After clean washing your wound, gently pat dry it with clean towel. Be sure that your hands are free from any dirt before cleaning your wounds. It’s also advisable for you to take 15-minute baths for at least 1 week. Don’t worry; the water will not get in!

If you think your wound has an infected, you should not take any antibiotic on your own. Call the clinic and schedule a review. Although antibiotics are fine, it’s still wise to consult initially as we need to treat infections appropriately.

Keeping the liposuction treated area tightly bound in a compression garment will help with the initial drainage and spare the skin from sagging. However, you should also ensure that the compression garment is not too tight. Too tight and you block the healing circulation and too loose, well that’s not good at all. You should also ensure that your garment or binder is clean.

Wounds get itchy every now and then. Instead of scratching your wounds, apply a thin layer of Vaseline to the area surrounding the wound. This will soothe the itchy feeling, sparing the wound to be scratched.

Never take aspirin or any blood thinning medications for at least 2 weeks after the liposuction surgery. Blood thinners will just increase the bleeding and bruising. Other herbal remedies like vitamins and green tea will also thin your blood and should be avoided.

A couple of days after the operation (when the seepage has stopped) you will be allowed to walk around and do light activities. However, you should avoid staying from direct sunlight. Whether or not the wounds have already healed, sunlight can cause problems.

Infected wounds are considered as the most common concern during liposuction recovery. This is caused by wrong management and poor caring for the wounds. It’s advisable not to do any remedial methods if you’re unsure about it. Always keep the wounded areas clean but refrain from using too strong cleansers such as alcohol and strong soap.

Stubborn Saddlebags Liposuction

We are all born with genetically predetermined body shape. When your body shape is awkward, no matter how much you diet or exercise you can still have stubborn pockets of fat that won’t go away. In this scenario surgical intervention with VASER lipo might be the answer for you?

Sometimes you don’t have to be fat to have fat!

In some people and often times is women, they have a pear shaped body. They are petite up top and slender in their waist but their bottom and thighs just really expand. It’s unfortunate for these women who tell me they lose a few pounds and it comes out of their face, breasts or arms but not their problem areas, the saddlebags. For these women VASER lipo is wonderful. I can really contour their thighs and buttocks and get them in balance again.

I have been doing liposuction since the late nineties and liposuction has come a long way. VASER lipo uses smaller instruments, done under local numbing and focuses on certain areas while being minimally-invasive. VASER lipo promises shorter recovery down time and better results.

VASER lipo is done under local anaesthesia. During the procedure which is performed in our surgical room at Castleknock Cosmetic Clinic, Dublin, I inject tumescent fluid in. The fluid numbs the area and shrinks local blood vessels. The fluid also hydrates the area and minimises bruising and swelling. The patient is awake during the whole procedure and they walk in and they walk out in a couple of hours later. Because they are awake we can ask them to turn and move into different positions during the surgery minimising lifting and handling.

What’s nice about VASER lipo is that it uses ultrasound vibrations to break down the fat. By doing so it protects from damaging blood vessels, connective tissues and lymphatic channels so it produces more tissue tightening afterwards. Vibration is also associated with heat generation. This heat is directed to the under surface of the skin promoting impressive post-operative tissue contraction.

Many patients come to me saying they hate their saddle bags. They say saddle bags add to their pear shaped appearance and although they exercise regularly, these annoying saddle bags don’t seem to go away. They would have tried everything they could have thought of to tackle their problem areas without any luck.  Ideal candidate is a fit person who is conscious of their diet and has trouble saddlebag area that they cannot eliminate with regular diet and exercise. VASER lipo is not a weight loss treatment. In the VASER lipo procedure we are really sculpting the body and changing the contours.
