Understanding Gynaecomastia

Gynaecomastia is caused by an imbalance in the oestrogen and testosterone hormones. In men where the body produces more oestrogen than testosterone, leading to the development of breast tissue in men. Other factors that can contribute to male chest enlargement include certain medications, such as anabolic steroids, antidepressants, and anti-androgens, as well as underlying medical conditions, such as liver or kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, or tumours.

Does gynaecomastia go away?

In some cases, gynaecomastia may go away on its own without treatment. However, in other cases, it may persist or worsen over time. If gynaecomastia is caused by an underlying medical condition or medication, addressing that underlying cause may help to reduce or eliminate breast enlargement.

Gynecomastia and cancer

While gynaecomastia itself is not a sign of cancer, in rare cases, breast cancer can develop in men with gynaecomastia. It’s important to consult with a doctor if you notice any changes in your breast tissue, such as lumps or discharge.

Gynaecomastia surgery

Gynaecomastia surgery, also known as male breast reduction surgery, is a surgical procedure that involves cutting out excess breast tissue and fat from the chest area. There are several different surgical techniques that can be used, depending on the extent of the breast enlargement and the individual patient’s needs.

Disadvantages of gynaecomastia surgery

Like any surgical procedure, gynaecomastia surgery carries some risks, such as bleeding, infection, scarring, and anaesthesia complications. Additionally, some patients may experience temporary or permanent changes in nipple sensation, as well as uneven or asymmetrical results.

Vaser liposuction for male breast reduction

Vaser liposuction can be an effective treatment option for male breast reduction, as it uses ultrasound technology to break up breast and fat tissue before gently removing them from the chest area.

Difference between Vaser and traditional lipo gynecomastia

While both Vaser and traditional liposuction can be used for male breast reduction, Vaser liposuction is a minimally invasive procedure that uses ultrasound technology to specifically target and break down breast and fat tissue. It’s considered less traumatic and associated with quick recovery, better skin retraction and more even results.

Does breast fat return after Vaser gynaecomastia treatment?

While Vaser liposuction can effectively remove excess breast fat, maintaining a healthy lifestyle post-surgery is crucial to prevent the fat from returning. Hormonal changes or weight gain can cause breast fat to reappear, but it may not be as noticeable as before the surgery.

After gynaecomastia surgery

To enhance the results of gynaecomastia surgery and tone your chest, it’s important to follow a healthy diet and exercise regimen. This can help reduce body fat and build muscle. Additionally, wearing a compression garment and massaging the chest area can improve circulation and reduce swelling.

Nipples after gynaecomastia surgery

In most cases, the nipples will return to their normal size and shape after VASER lipo. However, changes in nipple size and sensitivity are possible side effects. For enlarged feminised nipples further correction with Renuvion J-Plasma may help, however, in some cases, surgical reduction will be required.

Nipple sensation after surgery

Most patients regain normal nipple sensation after the vaser lipo. However, temporary or permanent changes in nipple sensitivity, including decreased or increased sensitivity, can occur.
