VASER Liposuction Explained

VASER harnesses the power of ultrasound energy. The ultrasound energy is used to dissolve unwanted fat deposits making their removal much easier and in a finessing manner. Focused ultrasound energy also tightens the surrounding skin for better smooth, and even results with little residual loose skin. The ultrasound energy causes contraction of the skin due to the ultrasonic vibrations caused by the micro-bubbles generated from the ultrasound energy. Instead of the traditional indiscriminate removal of fat, VASER liposuction offers a very precise liposculpting and tightening, pushing further the limits of liposuction.

This technique can be used in all body areas suitable for traditional liposuction, particularly difficult cases, re‐do cases, loose skin (arms, man boobs) and technical areas like the upper abdomen and the back. In these indications VASER Liposuction has clear advantages over traditional liposuction. Another major advantage of VASER technology over Laser liposuction and radiofrequency liposuction is that the extracted fat cells can be harvested for lipofilling in the face, breasts while Laser and Radiofrequency devices destroy fat cells.

VASER Liposuction is not a non-invasive cosmetic surgery technique however it is a minimally invasive procedure performed under local numbing anaesthesia. VASER Lipo is a revolution in liposuction techniques which has been performed at Castleknock Cosmetic Clinic Dublin since 2008.

Suitable VASER Ultrasound Energy Patients

The better candidate for liposuction is a person who has defined areas that are resistant to diet and exercise. Areas where liposuction is originally intended to be done are the hips (saddlebags), the lower tummy, inner or outer thighs. An example of the ideal candidate I see in my practice at Castleknock Cosmetic Clinic Dublin is a tall lady who comes in and has fullness in the outer thighs, the so called saddlebag deformity. If you’re globally overweight and have a BMI index of more than 32-34 you really shouldn’t get liposuction. You need diet and exercise and get unwanted bulges reduced and then consider what needs to be done, a tummy tuck, a thigh lift etc. When I consider VASER ultrasound energy liposuction for an individual, I look at the quality of the skin. Skin elasticity is key when performing liposuction. The better the elasticity the greater the liposuction results. Young elastic skin will snap back and hold the treated area in smooth contour. Damaged or Older skin with a lot of stretch marks has no elasticity. When the fat is taken out, it just folds irregularly and we get folds, divots and waviness.
